Outstandingly hilarious. I believe it would become a cult movie. Don't miss this to watch in theater. I can't believe that I shouted and cheered in the theater. Kids over the age of 12 will definitely like it. I would recommend to anyone who have watched a lot of Tamil movies before.

In the theater, an old man who is in seventies was sitting next me. He was there with his family. He queried me a lot asking things like, Did I ever see this movie before? and What is the story?. I understood that he didn't enjoy the movie and couldn't quite get hold of things that is going on in the screen. I realized his family has brought him thinking that this is another comedy movie. Poor old man. I told him that this is simply a spoof movie and I came here after hearing about it.

Ten minutes later, I saw him sleeping and he continued till the end. That is the best thing he has done.

Paa – Music Review

Overall verdict. Fantastic. I am not expert in analysis. Let me comprehend what I feel in simple words. This is not a music album. This is a Original Sound Track (OST). So approach it from that perspective.

Mudi Mudi - Already this song has become famous everywhere. Superb composition. Actually there are three variations of this song are available in this album. Watch out for the male version sung by Shaan. Simply amazing orchestration. Shaan’s version is already in my loop. தல சும்மா பின்னி பெடலெடுத்துட்டாரு.

Gumm Summ Gumm - Sung by kids, a rehash of Thumbi vaa (from Olangal a Malayalam movie). Kids have sung well. Excellent musical score. Already so many people started liking it. Could be a potential hit after the movie' release.

Halke se bole - A rehash of putham pudhu kaalai(An old Tamil song of him). A short song. Nice to hear it in chorus version.

Mere Paa. Interesting piece sung by Amitab. Purely situational song. Will definitely evoke the viewers emotion in theatre. Such is the effect. The theme music is coming along this piece.

For the front benchers' request Vicky Goswami has remixed the film's theme music. Fantastic piece.

The only track which I am not impressed personally is "Hichki..Hichki". May be I will like it when I see it in the theatre.

Technorati Tags: music,review,ilayaraja,amitabh,hindi

Dasavatharam - An Analysis on Avatars

I got the following analysis from a comment @ rediff. Thanks for the guy. Its a nice one.

Krishna avatar - Vincent Poovaraghavan Lord krishna is actually a dalit, he is dark-skinned [shyamalam]. He saved draupadi when she was being violated and he was the actual diplomat in mahabharatham. Lord krishna dies of an arrow striking his lower leg. Now look at how vincent was introduced.. he appears when asin is about to be molested and he saves her like draupadi. Vincent is the dalit diplomat, fights for land issue [soil issue to be exact] and dies from the metal rod striking his leg. Oh even five of vincent’s men are drugged at P. Vasu’s.. sounds familiar???

Balarama avatar - Balarama naidu This is an easy given. as the name suggests and the role personifies you can easily get it.

Mathsya avatar - Ranagaraja nambi nambi is thrown into water in an act of trying to save lord from being thrown into sea, though vainly. what more clue do you want?

Varaha avatar - Krishnaveni paatti During the mukunda song, krishnaveni paatti does varaha avatar in the shadow puppetry. The frame freezes on it for a second. there is the clue. Moreover, in varaha avatar lord actually hides earth so as to protect life forms. Here too krishnaveni hides the germs - life form inside the statue so as to protect.

Vamana avatar - Kalifulla khan remember in vamana avatar, lord vishnu takes the vishvaroopa, that is the giant form! Hence the giant kalifulla here symbolises vamana avatar.

Parasurama avatar - Christian Fletcher Parasurama is actually on an angry killing spree and killed 21 generations of the particular kshatriya vamsa. Hence the real KILLER… Guess what thats what our Fletcher is! He comes around with the gun [modern upgrade for axe] and kills everyone around. I have to check if he kills 21 people though.

Narasimha avatar - Shingen Narahashi first of all the name itself is a play on the words singam [means lion in tamil] and narasimha [the avatar being symbolised]. Lord Narasimha manifests himelf to kill the bad guy and he also teaches prahaladha. In the movie, he shows up to kill the killer fletcher! and is also a teacher.. Lord Narasimha had to kill the asura with bare hands and hence the martial arts exponent here.. get it?

Rama avatar - Avatar Singh Lord Rama stands for the one man one woman maxim, kind of symbolising true love.. Here Avatar portrays that spirit by saying that he loves his woman more than anything and wants to live for her.

Kalki avatar - Govindaraj Ramasamy As you know, the hero in kaliyug can be none other than the Kalki avatar!!!

Koorma avatar - Bush This is the most loose adaptation I couldn’t clearly comprehend. But if you look at the real koorma avatar, the lord is the turtle/tortoise that helps in stirring the ksheera sagara and bringing out the amruth. This essentially creates war among the devas and asuras. Similarly today Bush facilitates war between you know whom… May be Kamal also indicates that.

Technorati Tags: movie,review,tamil,dasavatharam,india,kamal haasan

You can't change the Genes

You can't just change the genes. Here is an interesting new story...!

Rajinikanth was bragging to Jayalalitha one day, "You know, I know everyone there is to know. Just name someone, anyone, and I know them."

Tired of his boasting, Jayalalitha called his bluff, "OK, Rajini how about Tom Cruise?" "Sure, yes, Tom and I are old friends, and I can prove it" Rajini said.

So Rajini and Jayalalitha fly out to Hollywood and knock on Tom Cruise's door, and sure enough, Tom Cruise shouts "Thalaiva! Great to see you! You and your friend come right in and join me for lunch!". Although impressed, Jayalalitha is still skeptical.

After they leave Cruise's house, she tells Rajini that she thinks Rajini knowing Cruise was just lucky. "No, no, just name anyone else" Rajini says. "President Bush", Jayalalitha quickly retorts. "Yes", Rajini says, "I know him, let's fly out to Washington". And off they go. At the White House, Bush spots Rajini on the tour and motions him, saying, "Rajini, what a surprise, I was just on my way to a meeting, but you and your friend come on in and let's have a cup of coffee first and catch up". Well, Jayalalitha is very shaken by now, but still not totally convinced.

After they leave the White House grounds, she expresses his doubts to Rajini who again implores her to name anyone else. "The Pope", Jayalalitha replies. "Sure!" says Rajini. "I've known the Pope and his folks from Bavaria from a long time!".

So off they fly to Rome. Rajini and Jaya are assembled with the masses in Vatican Square when Rajini says, "This will never work. I can't catch the Pope's eye among all these people. Tell you what, I know all the guards so let me just go upstairs and I'll come out on the balcony with the Pope." And he disappears into the crowd headed toward the Vatican. Sure enough, half an hour later Rajini emerges with the Pope on the balcony. But by the time Rajini returns, he finds that Jaya has had a heart attack and is surrounded by paramedics. Working his way to her side, Rajini asks him, "What happened?" Jaya looks up and says, "I was doing fine until you and the Pope came out on the balcony and the man next to me said, "Who's that on the balcony with Rajini?" A village is used to have lot of mountains, rich green scenary, the guys should speak either madurai dialect or coimbatore gounder dialect and one big banyan tree. This is what we were forced to beleive by the directors like, soundarajan , r.v.udayakumar, k.s.ravi kumar. Thanks to thangar bachchan, lingusamy, and bala. we could be able to see other kinds of villages from south arcot , tanjavur and trichy districts. Lingusamy seems to favour villages and other places near Kumbakonam which has some great traditional and fine old buildings and structures. I lived most of my life in Kumbakonam, and considerable years in chidambaram, i feel kumbakonam be my home town. But i like chidambaram and other places too for other reasons. Thats why i was happy to see films like azhagi, solla marantha kathai ,which were shot in south arcot and kadalur districts, particularly near panruti and neyveli. Here in these films, thangar captured these wonderful places , people, their language and senses wonderfully. I felt i was there in those places, because I had been there so many times. Hope thangar's next film as the tile says "chidambarathil oru appasami", will be shot entirely in chidambaram and the neighbouring places.

About

I created this blog to share my thought in film industry.
